Sonjia Barker joined Perkins in 2022, bringing a robust background in tax and auditing from her tenure as the lead auditor for the Washington Department of Revenue and a managing director at a national firm. As the leader of Perkins’ State and Local Tax (SALT) practice, Sonjia breaks down intricate tax issues and develops clear, actionable strategies for clients in the ever-evolving tax landscape. Her profound understanding of multistate tax compliance and a pragmatic approach to planning strategies make her an invaluable asset to the Perkins team and the clients she serves. Beyond her day-to-day client work, Sonjia is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA), the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants (WSCPA), the Association of Washington Business Tax & Fiscal Policy, and the institute for Professionals in Taxation. Additionally, she serves on the OSCPA’s Taxation Strategic Committee and is the Chair of the WSCPA’s Washington Tax Conference.
Tiffany Mellow started her journey at Perkins in 2017 and has since transformed the firm’s Business Valuation (BV) practice and broadened its industry reach, ensuring clients receive tailored valuation and advisory services. With extensive expertise in business valuations, tax advisory, and litigation support strategies, Tiffany plays a critical role in guiding clients through intricate financial procedures such as buy-sell transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and estate planning. Tiffany’s contributions to her field have not gone unnoticed; in 2022, she received the AICPA’s Forensic and Valuation Services (FVS) Standing Ovation award and was one of only nine recipients to be honored at the AICPA’s 2022 FVS Conference. Tiffany is an active member of the AICPA, the OSCPA, and Oregon Community Programs. She is also a board member and Budget & Finance Committee member for Food for Lane County. Outside her professional service commitments, Tiffany is deeply involved in her community, including volunteering with Junior Achievement USA to promote financial literacy and entrepreneurship among the community’s future leaders.
