Bill’s path to Perkins has been anything but ordinary, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. With decades of experience in IT—most of it running his own businesses—Bill knows what it takes to build something from scratch. For years, he headed the largest computer networking program in Southern Oregon, managing a skilled team and setting the bar for top-notch service. After deciding to “semi-retire” from the whirlwind of business ownership, he shifted gears, working for others and bringing his hands-on, solutions-driven approach to the table. Now, as Perkins’ Director of IT, Bill is leveraging his tech expertise to ignite possibilities within our organization. His focus? Simplifying technology, using it more strategically, and—his favorite part—mentoring his talented team to help the department grow and thrive.

The seeds of Bill’s entrepreneurial success were planted early—think candy sales in grade school, complete with a bedroom that smelled like Blow Pops. From there, he launched ventures big and small, from a window washing business to importing handwoven baskets from Mexico. Before venturing into IT in the early ‘90s, he served as a police officer, where he first got hooked on tech while tinkering with the station’s computers. When he’s not in the office, he’s in the mayor’s seat—literally. Since 2006, Bill has served as the Mayor of Adair Village, where he’s dedicated to making a difference in his community. Somewhere in between all this, he still finds time to cruise the Alaskan fjords, dream about his next Caribbean escape, and keep us all guessing about what adventure is next on his list.

Whether he’s coaching his team, rolling up his sleeves to solve a complex problem, or using technology to help Perkins stay ahead of the curve, Bill does it all with a steadfast sense of purpose and dash of humor.
