Brigitte Sutherland

Well-traveled around the world and within the accounting industry, Brigitte brings years of experience working with closely-held businesses and their owners.

Brigitte (Bri-get-ah) walked through our doors in 2005 with a solid 18 years of accounting experience under her belt gained at a large regional accounting firm on the east coast. After several years of living back east, Brigitte ventured to the “left coast” and now happily enjoys all of the treasures living in the Northwest offers. Given her extensive experience with property managers, real estate developers and contractors, we enlisted her to serve as a key leader in our Real Estate Practice Group. Today, in addition to being the leader of our Tax Practice, she continues to lead clients through specialized services including, Cost Segregation studies, tax deferred exchanges and tenancy in common reporting. Brigitte keeps her skill-set sharp by attending advanced accounting and tax Continuing Professional Education (CPE) specifically related to the construction industry in order to bring top level service to her clients. She also contributes her knowledge and leadership to the greater real estate community, is a board member and past president of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), and was named one of 2020’s Women of Influence by the Portland Business Journal.

In addition to real estate and construction, Brigitte enjoys serving clients across a variety of industries including professional services, engineering, architecture, manufacturing and distribution, and retail. One common thread among many of her clients involves closely-held, privately owned businesses, requiring full spectrum planning for both the company and individual owners.

A world traveler as a child, Brigitte’s family moved nine times to follow her IRS-employed dad (is there a pattern here?). Luckily, she lived in a number of interesting places including Guam and Liberia. Though Brigitte likes “staying put” for now, she has taken up running. In addition to running on our Perkins & Co relay team, she completed two marathons. Her slew of happy clients proves that her determination and dedication translates from the road and into the office.
