As we approach the Fourth of July holiday, we see the impacts of a global pandemic and economic turmoil. And we are shaken by recent events that highlight our country’s history of racial injustice and how much work remains to be done.
Racism is contrary to our values. Our culture is strengthened by the diverse backgrounds of our employees, clients, and the community around us. At Perkins, we stand against those who threaten us with racial prejudice or injustice.
We are, by intention, more diverse than most accounting firms. This has given us the opportunity to listen to our employees who are people of color. These conversations have confirmed that we are doing some things well – providing a positive environment – and also, that there are areas where we can do better. And we will.
Going forward, we will continue having conversations internally. We will educate ourselves and others. We will be honest about our failures and our successes. And we will hold ourselves accountable for progress.
Please join us in this effort – and in support of all Black and African American lives and in embracing communities of color – as we work together, doing our part to create a more fair and just world.
