Along with being our Director of Assurance, Peter manages engagement teams working on financial audits, financial and IT consulting, due diligence, attestation and valuation services. He also developed our Risk Management Practice Group. Managing risk in today’s business environment is a challenge for many clients, but as a strategic advisor, Peter helps business owners and executives steer through technical issues, controls compliance and business issues. He works hard to stay current with his clients’ businesses allowing him to offer timely guidance and expert advice.
In 2007, Peter signed Perkins’ first IFRS report for a client. He helped the company transition from US GAAP stand alone financial statements to IFRS financial statements. This streamlined the client’s financial reporting process to their parent company and outside vendors and was the client’s first experience adopting IFRS under IFRS 1, “First-Time Adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards.” Peter also teaches seminars on IFRS and provides IFRS related content for the CPA exam.
Always on a quest to learn more and broaden his skills, Peter achieved his accreditation in business valuation (ABV) in 2009 and helped expand the firm’s valuation scope of services related to fair value accounting, business combinations and derivatives.
Perhaps Peter’s days as student body president at the University of Portland prepared him for his commanding role. Before we landed this accounting ace, Peter worked as a corporate controller in private industry and spent 10 years at a national accounting firm.
Peter spends his free time volunteering as a soccer coach and board member for the Tualatin Soccer Club. In 2007, he received the honor of Portland’s best 40 under 40 professionals by the Portland Business Journal, the first of Perkins’ young titans to achieve this title. In 2009, Peter was selected as one of 75 Significant Alumni for the University of Portland’s Pamplin School of Business in honor of its 75th anniversary celebration.
