You’d never know from his warm, easygoing nature that Jim Borquist has a tough side. Perhaps it’s his half Italian, half Swedish ancestry. Or years playing defensive lineman. But he’d also be the first to tell you – tough guy that he is – that he’s no stranger to spectacularly clumsy moments, like the time he slipped while playing golf and ended up in the hospital nursing a bad knee. That’s Jim – open, honest, and never afraid to laugh at himself.
For someone who doesn’t take himself too seriously, Jim has had a seriously successful accounting career. A Perkins shareholder with an impressive resume in tax accounting, Jim is known for his calm, reassuring demeanor and his dedication to clients.
A native Portlander, Jim grew up on Mount Tabor in a house built by his dad. As a kid, he enjoyed roaming around the Montavilla area with the boys from his block and feasting on his aunt’s homemade ravioli. When he married, Jim and his wife Francie, also a native Portlander, settled down on the east side, where they raised their three children in a charming 1932 bungalow. Nowadays, Jim and Francie savor trips to their favorite places: Cannon Beach, Maui, and Mexico. Whether you meet Jim at work or on the beach, his friendly greeting will put you at ease.
